Who we are

Frauen helfen Frauen Schwarzwald-Baar e.V. has been a central point of contact for women and girls in the Schwarzwald-Baar district since 1978 — for those who need support, protection or counseling. Our association grew out of a committed group of women who came together back then in an adult-education course on violence against women, with the shared wish to create a safe space for exchange, solidarity and help.

What began as a small women's group developed over the years into a professional counseling centre with a shelter and a wide range of support services. Since 1998 we have worked under our current name, supporting women and their children in emergency situations — regardless of origin, religion or life circumstances.

Our work includes:

• Counseling and support for women and girls in stressful or violence-affected life situations
• Protection and accommodation in our shelter for up to 16 women and children
• Professional support from qualified staff
• Aftercare to sustainably strengthen the path to a self-determined life

We stand for reliability, respect and professional help. Our goal is to protect and empower women in crisis and to open up new perspectives for them.

The board members of our non-profit association work on a voluntary basis and on equal footing. Our counseling staff cooperates closely with other specialist centres in the region.

• Information on the Protection from Violence Act and its civil- and criminal-law consequences

Our work is funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg and supported by donations. Through in-kind and monetary donations, we can offer counseling and help to women and children affected by domestic violence.
